Ania Telfer

Hi, I’m Ania Telfer, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), clinical counsellor and professional artist offering counselling and psychotherapy for children, youth, teens, adults, couples, and families in Victoria, the Saanich Peninsula and online across Canada.
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and creative, integrating psychotherapy with art therapy, expressive arts, mindfulness, attachment-based and somatic and body-based approaches, and equine-assisted counselling. I support clients navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, emotional regulation, relationship concerns, life transitions, stress, identity, and personal growth.
I believe therapy doesn’t always have to happen through words alone. Art, movement, imagination, nature, and connection can offer meaningful ways to explore experiences, emotions, and patterns, particularly when something feels difficult to put into words. No artistic experience is necessary.
I hold a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle and a Graduate Certificate in Spiritually Focused Expressive Arts from St. Stephen’s College. I am also an Equusoma® Level 1 Student Practitioner, incorporating experiential work with equines into counselling when appropriate.
With more than 20 years of experience in arts-based learning and creative practice, I bring a lifelong understanding of creativity into my therapeutic work. I am particularly passionate about supporting children and young people, and about creating therapy that feels engaging, collaborative, and developmentally appropriate.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens through relationship, safety, curiosity, and meaningful connection. I strive to create a space where clients can feel understood, discover new perspectives, and develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and confidence.
